Public Lands Need Your Help

Most hunters, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts are overwhelmingly opposed to the sale, privatization and exploitation of our most precious resource: Public Lands.

Public lands, by law, are public and should stay that way.

Currently, their legal status is under attack. If concerned (you should be), reach out and make your voice heard with some of the great organizations below.

From Backcountry Hunters & Anglers: Amendment to Sell Public Lands. “Less than a week after expressing cautious optimism over the exclusion of public land sales in the House Republicans’ budget proposal, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA) is condemning a late-night maneuver that sidestepped stakeholder engagement and ignored conservation impacts. Just before midnight, members of the House Natural Resources Committee advanced an amendment authorizing the sale of upwards of 500,000 acres of public lands in Utah and Nevada.”

From Trout Unlimited: “Public lands are core to who we are as Americans. These are the places we hunt, fish, and recreate with our friends and families. America’s 640 million acres of public lands are some of the last wild places in the country. Trout Unlimited strongly opposes efforts like this to sell off America’s  public lands, especially when those efforts lack transparency and disregard public process.”

From Patagonia: “Congress is preparing to vote on a bill that would mandate the sale of millions of acres of public lands and allow developers to bulldoze their way through public engagement and environmental review processes. Public lands are held in a public trust for a reason: They maintain their intrinsic value when they’re well cared for, not exploited.”

From the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP): “This week the House Natural Resources Committee, during the budget reconciliation process, passed a late-night amendment to sell public land in Nevada and Utah with no public input and no consideration for impacts to public access. Now is the time for you to tell your elected officials that public land sales should not be included in this budget bill.”
