Loon UV Plasma Fly Tying Light

Billed as “The ultimate UV-curing light,” the Loon UV Plasma Fly Tying Light is highly regarded by many fly tiers I know. I was still hesitant to give it a try, but since I considered all the other UV-curing lights I’ve used to be junk, I figured I had nothing to lose.
And now, after months of daily use at the home and office fly tying benches, I’m a firm believer.
The single best feature of the UV Plasma Light is the solid cure it offers. While this sounds foolish to compliment a curing light for doing its only job, it’s the only cordless curing light on the market that does its job really well.
Resins have never left my vise so hard and in such short order. Fast cure. Hard cure. Always super hard and tack free.
I used about four different resins, all were cured harder than any other cordless lights I’ve used.
Pros
Ergonomic and comfortable in the hand.
The On/Off switch indicates the power level, which is a pretty cool feature.
Nice packaging, the kind that lets you know something good is inside.
Light arrived already changed up.
Cons
Not a single complaint I can muster…
It’s a UV flashlight–how cool does it need to be?
It’s hard for me to say that any flashlight is worth $100, and it’s even harder to convince someone that a flashlight that they’ll use for a couple seconds at a time is a good buy at this price point. This one won’t get you out of the woods either.
But you get what you pay for.
The Loon UV Plasma Fly Tying Light is worth every penny if you value quality fly tying tools, excellent resin curing results and your sanity. Purchase this light and put an end to tying roadkill masterpieces with sticky resin everywhere.
